>In 2009 we have launched a series of House Concerts to provide a unique musical experience for supporters and friends of the Carolina HopeFest.
If you aren't familiar with the house concert concept, it is a wonderful way to discover new music or hear your favorites perform unplugged in a small, intimate venue. Artists and listeners alike enjoy the casual, up-close atmosphere. We hope to have at least one concert per month this summer, so keep checking back for updates.
August 16th - Harp 46 - Celtic harp, hand percussion, electric bass... awesome.
4:00 pm
Hosted by Jim and Gayle Thomas 811 Highgrove Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 (map) $15 Adults, $10 Students Kids under 12 - Free
You won't want to miss this one. Based in Washington, DC, Harp 46 has not played in the triangle area for several years, and we are eagerly anticipating their return. Their unique blend of traditional celtic harp, bass, and hand percussion yields what WindandWire.com calls "moments of mirth and playfulness, but also beauty and warmth."
CD Baby says of Harp 46, "It's not only incredibly refreshing to hear the harp collaborating in a genre outside its typicl place but to hear such conversationa nd communication going on between the players, so perfectly blended with the warm and mellor ring of the harp, is exceptional."
The venue is a private home in the Southern Village neighborhood of Chapel Hill. Ample parking is available along the street or in the swim & tennis club at the end of the block. We will have drinks and light snacks and Miles' famous cookies available.
